Memil Cha (Buckwheat Tea)
Light and Earthy. Memil Cha is a delicate Korean buckwheat tea with a light, toasty flavor and subtle earthy notes. Popular in both Korea and Japan, this caffeine-free tea aids digestion and is wonderful served hot or cold.
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons roasted buckwheat groats (soba cha)
- 4 cups water
Instructions
- If using raw buckwheat, toast in a dry pan over medium heat for 3–4 minutes until golden and fragrant.
- Add buckwheat and water to a pot.
- Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes.
- Strain and serve hot or chilled.
Tips
- The steeped buckwheat groats can be eaten as a snack.
- Makes an excellent cold summer drink.
