Café au Lait (French Milk Coffee)

Café au Lait (French Milk Coffee)

Warm and Comforting

Café au Lait is the classic French breakfast coffee, equal parts strong brewed coffee and hot steamed milk, traditionally served in a wide, handleless bowl called a bol. This gentle, milky coffee is the everyday morning ritual for millions of French families, often enjoyed with a fresh croissant for dipping.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup strong brewed French roast coffee
  • 1 cup whole milk, heated and frothed
  • Sugar to taste (optional)

Instructions

  1. Brew strong coffee using a French press or drip method
  2. Heat milk until steaming and froth lightly
  3. Pour coffee and milk simultaneously into a wide bowl or large cup
  4. Add sugar if desired
  5. Serve with fresh croissants for dipping

Brew it with the real thing: Shop the Captain Cranberry Gooseneck Kettle.
