Crema di Caffè (Frozen Coffee Cream)

Crema di Caffè is the ultimate Italian summer coffee treat — a frozen, creamy espresso slush found in virtually every café across southern Italy during summer.

Ingredients

  • 200ml strong espresso, cooled
  • 200ml heavy cream
  • 3 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Cool espresso, pour into ice cube trays, freeze 4 hours
  2. Whip cream with sugar and vanilla to soft peaks
  3. Pulse frozen espresso cubes in blender until slushy
  4. Fold espresso slush into whipped cream
  5. Spoon into glasses and serve immediately
