Citron Pressé is the quintessential French café drink — freshly squeezed lemon juice served with a carafe of water and sugar on the side so you can mix it to your own taste. It's the simplest drink imaginable, yet perfectly refreshing on a warm day at a sidewalk café.

Ingredients

  • 2-3 fresh lemons, juiced
  • Cold still or sparkling water
  • Sugar or simple syrup to taste
  • Ice
  • Fresh mint (optional)

Instructions

  1. Squeeze the lemons and pour juice into a tall glass
  2. Add ice
  3. Serve with water and sugar on the side
  4. Mix to your preferred sweetness and dilution
  5. Garnish with mint if desired
