Cioccolata Calda (Italian Hot Chocolate)

Thick and Decadent

Italian hot chocolate is incredibly thick, rich, and almost pudding-like. Made with real dark chocolate and thickened with cornstarch, this is the drink served in every Italian café during winter.

Ingredients

  • 200ml whole milk
  • 100g dark chocolate, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder

Instructions

  1. Mix cornstarch with 2 tablespoons cold milk
  2. Combine remaining milk, sugar, cocoa, and salt in a saucepan
  3. Heat and add chocolate until melted
  4. Add cornstarch mixture and whisk 3-4 minutes until thickened
  5. Serve warm with whipped cream
