Caffè d'Orzo (Italian Barley Coffee)

Caffè d'Orzo is Italy's beloved caffeine-free alternative to espresso, made from roasted barley. Popular since ancient Roman times, this toasty beverage has a rich, malty flavor with hints of chocolate and caramel. It's traditionally brewed in a moka pot just like regular Italian coffee.
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons ground roasted barley
- 1 cup water
- Sugar to taste
- Warm milk (optional)
Instructions
- Fill the bottom chamber of your moka pot with water
- Add ground roasted barley to the filter basket
- Assemble and place on medium heat
- When gurgling, remove from heat
- Pour into espresso cup and serve
