Caffè d'Orzo is Italy's beloved caffeine-free alternative to espresso, made from roasted barley. Popular since ancient Roman times, this toasty beverage has a rich, malty flavor with hints of chocolate and caramel. It's traditionally brewed in a moka pot just like regular Italian coffee.

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons ground roasted barley
  • 1 cup water
  • Sugar to taste
  • Warm milk (optional)

Instructions

  1. Fill the bottom chamber of your moka pot with water
  2. Add ground roasted barley to the filter basket
  3. Assemble and place on medium heat
  4. When gurgling, remove from heat
  5. Pour into espresso cup and serve
